Twin Sails Bridge - Poole Wharf
Twin Sails Bridge Poole Wharf
To install a state-of-the-art lighting system for the Twin Sails Bridge in Poole. The Twin Sails Bridge is the first bridge of its type to be built and was chosen to symbolise the aspirations of the town and its maritime heritage. The bridge features a world class design with two triangular shaped lifting leaves symbolising the sails of a yacht.
We installed a pioneering LED Lighting System which was intelligent DMX controlled and fully IP rated integrated. We also manufactured and installed a stainless steel balustrade system from 316L marine grade stainless steel and profiled twin flat uprights. The 6mm wire rope infill and 60.3mm stainless steel handrail incorporated a bespoke LED lighting system which is all DMX controlled.
Our fully IP rated lighting system was tailored specifically to suit the local environment, incorporating RGB LEDs. The lighting was programmed to sequentially change colour to suit the movement of the lifting spans.
The bridge opened to traffic on 4th April 2012 and the project received the outstanding achievement award for exterior lighting at the Architecture Lighting Design Awards 2012. Over the next 10 to 15 years, the regeneration is expected to deliver around 2,000 homes and create up to 5,000 jobs.
